Welcome to MY ONLY CITY: the sounds of the West Terrace, a project in development by artist, sound recordist and archivist Duncan Whitley. The site will host a collection of over 500 minutes of stereo sound recordings, which document the soundscapes of Coventry City FC's Highfield Road stadium (closed in 2005). Visitors will have free access to the collection, which they can search by choosing between matches, searching for songs and chants, or by using a graphic match timeline.
The recordings document the reactions of the crowd to events during the 2004/05 season, City’s last at Highfield Road prior to moving home to the Ricoh Arena. The final competitive match at Highfield Road, against a Derby County pushing for a place in the Championship play-offs, saw a remarkable 6-2 victory that secured City safety from relegation on the eve of their move to the multi-million pound Ricoh.
